The MRI Stretcher with Integrated Defibrillator Mount is designed for rapid response to cardiac emergencies in the MRI suite, which is a high-risk environment for patients under sedation or with underlying cardiac conditions. The stretcher includes a dedicated mounting platform for a non-magnetic defibrillator (e.g., Philips XL MRI-compatible or Zoll R Series with MRI-safe mode). The mount is located under the deck at the foot end, keeping the defibrillator accessible but out of the way during routine transport. The mount uses a quick-release mechanism that allows the defibrillator to be removed in under 5 seconds. The stretcher also includes a storage compartment for defibrillator pads (pre-gelled, MRI-compatible) and a small oxygen cylinder. The entire electrical system of the stretcher (if present for other features) is shielded and non-magnetic, and the defibrillator mount contains no ferromagnetic components.

This stretcher is intended for MRI facilities that perform sedation or anesthesia for pediatric, claustrophobic, or uncooperative patients. Cardiac arrest, while rare, can occur during sedation, and having a defibrillator immediately available is critical. The integrated mount ensures that the defibrillator is always with the patient during transport and scanning, rather than left on a crash cart outside the MRI suite. The mount is positioned so that the defibrillator can be deployed without moving the patient or moving the stretcher out of the bore. For facilities that do not have an MRI-compatible defibrillator, the mount can be used to secure a standard defibrillator outside the 5-gauss line (the stretcher can be moved to the door of the MRI suite, the defibrillator removed, and then the patient moved inside). The stretcher also serves as a code cart for MRI-specific emergencies, with organized storage for emergency medications.
