Product Description
MRI-Safe Non-Magnetic Transport Wheelchair

Function: The MRI-Safe Non-Magnetic Transport Wheelchair is designed for moving patients from waiting areas, hospital wards, or emergency departments directly into the MRI suite without requiring a transfer to a different mobility device. The wheelchair features a lightweight aluminum frame with absolutely no ferromagnetic components, allowing it to be safely used in fields up to 3 Tesla. The chair includes four non-magnetic casters – two swivel casters at the front for maneuverability and two fixed casters at the rear for directional stability. Push handles are ergonomically shaped and covered with rubberized grip material over a brass core. The seat is made of medical-grade composite with a seamless, fluid-proof cover that can be easily disinfected between patients. The chair also features a foldable footrest that swings away for patient egress, and a lap belt with a plastic buckle for safety during transport. An optional anti-tip bar prevents backward tipping when the chair is used on ramps or uneven surfaces.

Application: This wheelchair is ideal for outpatient MRI centers where patients arrive for scheduled scans. Many outpatients can walk short distances but require a wheelchair for longer corridors or when feeling weak or anxious. The transport wheelchair allows these patients to remain seated from the waiting room to the MRI scanner door, at which point they can stand and step onto the scanner table. For patients who cannot stand, the wheelchair’s removable armrests and swing-away footrests allow a lateral slide transfer onto the MRI table. The chair is also used in emergency departments to transport patients with suspected stroke or trauma who require urgent MRI, as it reduces handling time compared to transferring a patient from a hospital gurney.
